Norteno is a regional term for people from the northern states. Surenos are people from southern mexico. You can find the following races/ mixes balanced mestizo, euro- mestizo, indo- mestizo, whites, indigenous in every state and region of Mexico in varying degrees. Yes the north has individuals that leans towards their amerindian side such wise southern Mexico also has people leaning towards their european side in terms of appearance. The divide is most seen in phenotypes since the most common phenotype of nortenos is euro-mestizo while Surenos it is indo-mestizo. Not to mention one can see the culture shift between the northern states and southern states.
