I heard vikings actually mostly had brown/black hair as opposed to blonde. Sounds promising given that the sexual selection of fair haired women may have changed that for modern day scandanavia.

Modern adult Scandinavians are mostly not naturally blond either, so not much will have changed.

Why are people surprised by the Viking results? Scandinavian-like people that took wives from other parts of Europe. "They are who we thought they were"

Yes I agree. I think each study is a sort of stepping stone and the next one builds on it. There are still a few missing pieces but hopefully over the next couple of years it should all be clarified.
