Here many seem to not understand that Georgians are a conglomerate of different sub-ethnic groups with rather different phenotypes, and these groups are still very far from consolidation into a single homogeneous nation. To put it simply, for example Megrelians (sub-ethnic group of Georgians) are more like Abkhazians (non-Georgians) than Kakhetians (another sub-ethnic group of Georgians) and Khevsurs are more like Chechens than Kartlis, and so on and so forth.

Not. The Georgians have only 2 sub-ethnic groups: Mingrelians and Svans. The rest (Imeretians, Gurians, Adjarians, Khevsurs, Kartlians, Kakhetians, Mtiulians, Pshavs and others) are completely ordinary Georgians, who speak and always spoke usually Georgian, having the same traditions. They are not sub-ethnic groups. They are ordinary Georgians with the names of the region in which they live. A Georgian living in Imereti is called an Imeretian, a Georgian living in Khevsureti is called a Khevsur. It's just the name of the regions. In Georgia, only Kakhetians, Kartlis and Javakhetians have the most unusual appearance, because they are mixed. All others are roughly similar to each other. Khevsurs do not look like Chechens. These are all stories from the Internet. And the Chechens themselves differ from other Georgians, only in a different style of beard, clothing and other things. 90% of Chechens will pass in Georgia. Megrelians are similar to Abkhazians, since 60% of modern Abkhazians are assimilated Megrelians who switched to the Apsua speech. And so Mingrelians mtebids are no less than pontids. Kakhetians are not a sub-ethnic group of Georgians. These are ordinary Georgians living in the Kakheti region and having a self-name from the name of the region.
