just got reminded of a case in which there was a guy not legally allowed to work in korea who was obviously not even a native speaker of english and he was repeatedly trying to work as an english teacher. i asked him directly once what his visa is and he got all butthurt and refused to answer. he used a fake "white person" name online to apply to these jobs. dumbest of all the entire english teacher community was bending over backwards to get him jobs. think whatever you want about english teaching, but there are lots of westerners there who made it their life and need all the well paying little jobs that make up their work week to support their families. thats it for them, theres no moving up really, just getting more jobs, which do pay well.

i found out now by someone bringing him up that he was a pakistani whos parents sent him over to get his PhD in korea (if you can afford this youre not poor) and his wife worked for Nestle.

It was just so fucking dumb how the foreigner english teacher community was actively helping this jackass take away potential jobs from themselves, the guy has a thick accent, and apparently continue to help him even now.

the current state of pakistan for example (then west pakistan) in 1947 had 33 million people. britain in 1947 was 48 million.

in 2020 pakistan is 222 million and britain is 68 million.

even just taking three countries, pakistan, india and bangladesh. all former commonwealth dominions of britain, and thus afforded special ease in immigrating to the UK. these three countries are 1.73 billion people, and they seem to be obsessed with moving "up" and to a country that is not their own.

that is 25 times the population of britain, the numbers are fucking insane, let alone the fact that they will have kids at a higher rate than britons.
