The Osogovo Monastery is part of the Bulgarian historical heritage in the area. The monastery is mentioned for the first time during the reign of the Bulgarian king Kaloyan (1196-1207). In the second half of the 16th century, the monastery declined and became impoverished, and the monks sought financial help from the Republic of Dubrovnik. According to a preserved certificate from 1474, the Dubrovnik council donated 20 coins “alms to the Bulgarian monastery of St. Joachim ”(... elemosinam monosterio Sancti Joachim partium Bulgarie)
