    Default Surname origin for Slav

I know this theme does not really belong here, but there is no more suitable thread. If there is, kindly forward me there and I will move this one.

I am trying to find out the origin (and possibly meaning) of my surname - "Nutár". I am slavic, my paternal line comes from eastern Slovakia (near both Polish and Ukrainian borders). So far I was not able to find even a slight hint to the origin of this surname.

Do you have any idea, what it can mean, or even where I can search further? Maybe if there are some polish guys, I heard that "nuta" means a note, so Nutár may mean something like a musician. Does this even make sense?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, that I've seen, but I don't think I am related to Indonesians For the Iranians also - I only know of Slavic ancestors. Also - Nutar means Notary in many languages, but none of the countries around, so that is also not the real meaning.

Yes, notar could mean notary. In BG its "notarius" (нотариус). Could be it. But obviously there is no explanation on the origin of the name. Maybe it comes from notarius, but its strange that O evolved into U. Is it nUtar in Slovak? Because notarius was connected to the Catholic Church: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notarius

It is notar in Slovak as well. I asked on one slovak genealogy forum and they told me that notar is certainly not the origin of Nutár. So that is the dead end.

There are some Slovenians who have suffix with tar/ar in ending. As for nútar, well it doesn't have any meaning in Slovakia, but there are some people with this name.

Slovenian seams also possible. On mytrueancestry, Slovenian was my 5th closes population, so there might be some ancient ancestry.
