I think you believe the media's portrayals of both Trump and Obama too readily. Obama was probably the most overrated US president in modern times, and Trump spent a great deal of his first term correcting Obama's blunders and neglect of America - - especially on the domestic front. Trump, on the other hand, has presided over an awesome resurgence of the American economy and stature, hence naturally his overseas rivals won't like him very much, especially America' s enemies. At the same time he hasn't started any new wars, unlike all his predecessors.

Trump made it clear, and followed through, that he wanted to reposition the country's place in the world by re-evaluating its relationships, economic and military and so on, with other countries with which we've had asymmetrical relationships. The US does not have the money (or power) to support these countries--obviously these countries had much to lose, and did, from a Trump presidency.
