Take it with a grain of salt because there's still uncertainty relating to these, but the initial correlation between heart disease and high cholesterol has been retired due to, at the time, unknown factors. One of those is the Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio, which has consistently grown in the past 100 years in favor of Omega 6.
Having high cholesterol should no longer be considered an issue, but it's clear that eating very fatty foods, deep fried in seed oil with mostly omega 6 leads to higher cholesterol, higher omega 6 and higher risk of heart disease; you can have high cholesterol because of fatty foods and be healthy, provided you get heavy Omega 3 input.

Ready for some gross oversimplification (but for me, it's the bottom line): Exercise everyday, and get sweaty. Eat sensibly, keep your weight in check. Don't smoke. Drink in moderation.
For most people, if you follow that advice, the rest will take care of itself. Forget about cholesterol levels.

Interesting.....thanks for sharing . I've heard a bunch of different theories over the years connecting cholesterol to health.

As far as I know, cholesterol causes blockage of blood vessels, and this can lead to the formation of a blood clot. A blood clot comes off at any moment - and instant death. So, I don't think there is any benefit from high cholesterol.
I doubt that you will live longer...
You'll have more chances of having a stroke, apart from the fact that with age your arteries will become narrower so no chance to live your longest life
