Some pictures from interwar period taken in Neamț county, Moldova region, North-Eastern Romania, showing life of peasants in Carpathian mountains.

If anyone wants an idea of how these looked like in color, these are pictures that I took from the (abysmally small) ethnographic museum in Iasi:

Balkan, not Slavic. Dresses like this can only be found in Ukraine outside the Balkans. Russians, Belorussians have different folk costumes.

There's a continuity of traditional clothing style starting from Bosnia/Bulgaria up north to Poland/Ukraine/Belarus. Moldavian woman clothes and Ukrainian ones are extremely similar, but they do diverge.

Russian ones seem to be the most unique of the bunch.

Exist of course, but between Eastern Slavs, only Carpathian Rusyns have very similar dresses, especially similar to Moldavians.
