I would not take it as proof of anything Perelman´s religiosity, and I would not link this with his intelligence.

Let's say this man is super-specialized in his field, with such dedication, that traditional religion is more of a mental vacation and a psicologycal moment of relax and disconnection from their obsessions than anything else.

It does reveal in certain comments on the subject, a very special vision of God, in the sense that he thinks he sees in mathematics the hand of a superior being.
