At least I learned a new song:

As if an English speaker who speaks four languages can't become proficient in any Romance language in ~ 2 years. The audacity. I will just use this as motivation.

Oh, and in your OP, it would be puttana di cazzo or puttana di merda (I prefer the latter).

This is because Italian is the easternmost of the Western Romance languages.

'Come ti senti' is more or less fine, 'puttana cazza' is something you made up.

Sounds like she isn't Italian but rather a Yank of Italian origin so this is a story about two Americans getting buttmad with each other over a language neither of them speak? Classic.

The thing is, I speak 4 languages, and rather than continuing the conversation in a constructive manner, she decided to make things difficult and insult my Italian. Now, if a girl I was considering dating was learning German and trying to speak German with me, even if she made grammatical errors, I would be understanding and try to help her, not insult her and call her an impostor. I just can't wrap my head around why one would be so rude towards someone who is a prospective date. If anything, she should be flattered that I was trying to speak Italian and she should see it as an opportunity for us to mutually improve our knowledge of la bella lingua. Non c'e vero ?

I have an Italian frequency dictionary and a book of modern Italian grammar, so I will study those. I also joined the Chicago Italian language group where they speak 100% in Italian. This is much better considering that the Denver Italian group used so much English, I got fed up and stopped going.

'C'e'' means 'there is.' 'E'' means '[it] is.'

Idk man sounds like she was a bit rude but also your ego got scorched, to the point you were still fuming when you made your OP here. I thought you were up on being zen and all that? Chill, bro. It's cool you speak 4 languages but it doesn't really have much relevance here, it kind of sounds like you were expecting her to be overawed by and overly respectful to you as someone who's achieved so much in the field, so to speak, which is never a good look.

I was debating that myself. I read a novel by Gary Jennings about Marco Polo called The Journeyer where he was constantly saying "Non c'e vero."

    Anyhow,

My point still stands. Why would someone be so fucking rude ?

Well, then, this Gary Jennings fellow made a booboo that his editor didn't catch. Venetian for third person present of 'to be' is xe so the only possibility here is that Gazza made a mistake. Hopefully your Italian teacher could run you over a basic present tense conjugation table for 'essere?' Basic stuff!

EDIT: thought I'd be nice, actually:

    Io sono
    Tu sei
    Lui/lei č
    Noi siamo
    Voi siete
    Loro sono

Idk man, you say it happens a lot so maybe she's just a twat, but maybe it's something you're doing. We weren't there, we can't know, at least, not without comprehensive screens.
