Interesting, even if it is allowed the question whether that other person compromises to get married in a orthodox church if he/she is not. I understood the OP as mainly about greek-orthodox religion as she describes being from a very religious family and that her love is of another religion. It didnt said whether he is a non-european though. But I might be wrong, and there is lack of information to this.

I live in Tampa, near Tarpon Springs which is the biggest Greek community in USA I believe. My family was Pontic/Thracian. Most of my family is Eastern Orthodox, I have family in Prague and Kavala. A lot moved out of Turkey during the population exchange and a good bit came to the states. So I am one of the few Pontic Greeks left in the diaspora and I do know quite a bit of Pontic Greek even though I am not fluent lol but pretty good for being 22 and my pappou being the last really fluent speaker in my family here in the states. Most Greeks here in Tarpon Springs are from Epirus, Thessaloniki, Athens and the islands. Not many are from Thrace I have noticed.
