Best modern method to determine Ancestry :

So, Gary Kasporov the Chess champion was defeated by AI (a computer) then he came up with the idea of centaurs human/AI hybrid teams and they beat the AI.

Moral of the story is I don't think either physical anthropology (like Aherne said) or genetics is the best way to determine Ancestry or ethnicity.

I think you have to use both. So why are different genetic calculators telling me different things ? Which one is best ? Well, I was classified as a British isles type that is mostly Atlantid (I'm probably about 70% Atlantid with perhaps some dinaric and other nordish stuff who knows ?) the point is I don't look like a French Atlantid or Dutch/Benelux Atlantid mostly.

Where are Atlantids mostly in Britain ? The Celtic fringe mostly but spread out into mainstream Britain in the modern era as well.

The next problem : Am I more Irish, English/Cornish/Devonshire-like, Welsh or Scottish ?


Well, here we go to the genetic calculators and some people have told me I look either Scottish or like a WASP (English) so I'll rule out Irish based on that (that is not perfect but it's rare that someone says I look 'Irish' in fact Grace O'Malley says I don't Creoda says I look slightly more Irish than Cornish/Welsh but he probably means Scottish whether he knows it or not).

So, I did Map My Genes at sequencing.com and I got matches at Cornwall England, Argyll-Bute, Kent England and Orkney.

What matches that ? Eurogenes EUtest (I'll use the updated genoplot one because I don't have access to DNAgenics right now) :

1.) Cornish + Cornish + Orcadian + Scottish @ 1.85

1.) 58.2% Cornish + 41.8% Scottish @ 1.88

1 Orcadian 2.58
2 Cornish 2.90
3 Irish 2.90
4 Scottish 3.59
5 English 5.01

^ Not bad especially considering my Kent match(es) were not as strong as my other ones.


So, I almost settled on EUtest years ago but it took genoplot.com and/or DNAgenics to improve upon it.

Anyway, how convoluted is all that just to get to the truth ? Motherfuckers making a million calculators, Eurogenes G25 comes along is wrong telling me I'm Dutch or Norwegian and tons of commercial sites blowing smoke up my ass ?

What is wrong with the world where things have to be so convoluted and sophisticated to get to the truth ? Also, do you agree this is the best method like Centaurs ?

BTW, I admit I might be possibly be wrong and suffered from at least some confirmation bias here but I doubt it.

P.S. you can probably use a similar method yourself but it takes a lot of esoteric knowledge (many of us here do have it though), sophistication and critical thinking. You maybe find another calculator works best for you or perhaps we might find that *gasp* EUtest is the best calculator in chagrin to popular opinion.

It is pretty precise, you realize by your results that you are Anglo-Celtic, well I guess it is so small difference between irish and scottish or such things, but you realize you are anglo-celtic that is already very precise and more precise then that you are "european". I think 15 years ago you were able to pinpoint whether someone is european/caucasian or african, native american etc. now you even pinpoint that you are anglo-celtic. But I agree that combined with research of family tree and physical anthropology it is better then only one thing.

What is so hard to understand, Benelux is very close radius to England, its not unlikely that one of your ancestors could be from this area or even more further to Germany. Germanic DNA is prevalent also in UK. You are also being dickfucked in head by minor influences lol, if I had your problems dude. Genetics DNA is very useless to further discuss because it just shows the facts, there is nothing more to it. Its like maths, if a simple maths would have an answer 5, you would probably discuss why it's so close to 6...
