Muslim sounding surnames are present in Perušić near Gospić. My friend is from there and there are many Catholic Croats in the settlement have such surnames. He thinks they are descended from Turks but it's incorrect as I have many samples from exact same place and they are highly Slavic. I'd guess they are Croats who were islamized and later reconverted to Catholicism. But surnames stuck.

We think of Croats as basically like other standard Europeans

We think of Serbs as something savage like cossaks or Hulagu Khan

Actually, surname Bošnjak is almost exclusively Croatian. It denotes somebody with roots from Bosnia. Muslims have it very rarely.

There are Serbs with surname Bosanac and Bošnjak.
That means someone who is from Bosnia, no relation with islam.

To answer the OP: days of islamophilia are long gone. Modern day Croatian far right is very anti-Islamic, more than anti-Serb in fact.
We have two types of right wingers: old guard who is highly Serbophobic, cherishes NHD and Ustaše and many do see Bosniaks as Croats and have Islamic sympathises. Younger generations call them boomers lost in place and time.

Young Croatian right wing is very close to European identiterians, their main focus are migrants and they are far less obsessed with Serbs than previous generations. They are very anti-Bosniak and anti-Islam, but most are not very religious. Those are also occupied with things like white race which wasn't focus of old nationalists at all. They are also more connected with other Euro nationalists (even Serbs) and less strictly Croatian/Balkan centric.

So, modern Croatian right wing is not Islamophilic. Old one perhaps was, but not entirely.
