Exclamation RAGNAR LOTHBROK was probably R1a-Z284

Couple of years ago, when this character from famous serie was at the top of the popularity, Di1ck, wishfully thinking, was trying to claim him for I1s, just on the basis of the fact, that in present time, I1 is quite common in Scandinavia, but still not even the majority. Very weak reason. So, I was arguing from historical data, that he cannot be I1, but rather R1. I reached to the historical sources, such as sagas, which claim, that Ragnar Lothbrok was not a simple farmer as the show showed, but a member of scandinavian royal family, which origins according to sagas, can be clearly seen as indoeuropean. Plus the fact of being a member of yarl estate, supports such theory as well, giving a strong support for R1ness of Ragnar.

But I missed one important fact – the actual testing.

As it is known since 2003, Somerled of Agryll living in XII century was R1a, together with Somhairles, MacDonalds, Domhnaills, MacDougalls, aso. He, according to modern research, was a prime descendant of Crovan dynasty (which make sense, as he is Z284). Crovans are descendants of UiImars, and these ones are primal descendants of Ivar the Boneless, son of Ragnar Lothbrok.

So, from these two very important reasons, it can be assumed, that Ragnar Lothbrook was R1a-Z284.
