But doesn't Pan Turksim have to an extent widespread appeal at least to some segments of Turks in Turkey. At least I was under the impression that it did.
I know Abulfaz Elchibey who was the 2nd president of Azerbaijan was a Pan Turkist.
During the cold war, the United States and the west openly promoted Pan Turkism among the former soviet Turkic people to create discord and instability.
