Default What does 1. generation immigrant mean?

In my opinion, child of two person who personally migrated to another country and therefore their child was born in the host country is a 1. generation immigrant. Am I right?

This is one of those things that no one agree on. Why can't people just keep it simple and say that the FIRST generation to immigrate is 1st gen? And their kids are 2nd generation.

I don’t think the people who personally migrate to another country are seen as immigrants at all. Think of an Indian person who emigrated. I don’t think he or she will be considered as an immigrant at all but considered as straight up Indian.

That makes no sense. If someone moves to another country with the intention of settling there, acquires citizenship, and stays there, they are literally the definition of an immigrant.
