Sorry, but this kind of sentences doesn’t say anything but confuse people. Turkics aren’t and weren’t Mongolians, beeing 30% east eurasian means you are 80-100% Turkic. In the case of Turkmens, there are some with just 15% east eurasian, some with over 30% east eurasian(and not just Afghan Turkmens, i saw many with this amount from Turkmenistan). That means they can range between 40/50-100% Turkic.

Btw, Uzbekistan Turkmens are between 20-25% east eurasian, that is 50-70% Turkic. The rest is preTurkic, we allways say Iranic but i doubt that they mixed with genetically fully iranics.

I thought Azerbaijanis are ordinary Caucasians (mainly southern Dagestanis) who switched to the Turkic language and cultures due to the influence of the Turkic tribes.

Uh, no. The original Turkic people originated around the Altai Mountains or somewhere in Mongolia. There’s a reason why there are Turkic speakers living all the way in the Sakha Republic in far eastern Siberia. They were originally an East Asian derived people who gradually started moving into Central Asia, which was originally Caucasoid. The Bactria Margiana Archaeological Complex(mostly Iranian Neolithic) and the Indo-European Andronovo culture were the two main sources of ancestry for most central Asians at that time. Both were Caucasoid. Pockets of isolated 90% Caucasoid folks like the Pamiri exist who are derived from the same sources.

Early Göktürk samples were genetically connatural to them. Like you said Iranians lived long before them there so were already mixed with preIranians. Beeing 90% caucasian doesn’t say anything, the single components are important. This double standards annoy, really. Using ancient Turkics as preference but for others use modern examples as proxy. I don’t understand this logic and it is obviously a method of trolls...

Afghanistan Turkmens are the closest proxy to Oghuz, who have 35 to 40% East Eurasian. And Uzbekistan Turkmens come second, who have 30% to 35% East Eurasian. There is no better modern population to use while measuring Turkic ancestry in G25 SS so we use Uzbekistan Turkmens. Yet DA89 or Karluks from ancient might be preferable over modern.

Organization of Turkic languages dates to EIA, probably, and Turkic form(which was Bashkir like, and had 30 to 50% EE) already present in EBA. They were partly Caucasid since the beginning(not half Iranic, 1/4 Sintashta-like Steppe and 1/4 Iranic). Iranic admixture boosted in Oghuz afterward.

Yes, Turkic people might be originated around the Altai Mountains. But if they were East Asian, why didn't they speak just Mongolian?

Sakha, Tuvans or others speak Turkic because of Turkic dominance in Xiongnu and mass Yeniseian assimilation among Turkic.

No it doesn't look like that from a genetic point of view. Southern Dagestanis and Lezgins are quite far from Azerbaijanis.

As for now Azerbaijanis are more like a mix between Turks and NW-Iranians like the Talysh (who are already a bit Caucasus shifted).

If we use da89 as proxy for Turks which is mostly Steppe with 30 east Eurasian, Bashkirs and Tatars are closest populations. Other Turkic groups have additional different admixtures in their regions. For example Turkmen, Uyghurs, Uzbeks have West Asian-Gedrosia+some south Asian components. Kazakhs, Tuvans, Altai people have more East Eurasian. While Balkan Turks, Anatolia Turks and Iran Turks have native admixtures also. All these populations have their own unique culture. But they have the same root and speak Turkic language.
