You can believe in all the fantasies you want. A lot of middle-aged people who haven't achieved anything in their lives want to live in interesting times, to validate their failures. But, alas.

America always turns their elections into a reality TV show or a team sport. You people all get your emotions so wrapped up in your candidate that you cry foul at any perceived slight against them. So much money, marketing and legal corporate interest involved in your elections that shit like this is bound to happen.

In my country and much of the Western world, we vote for parties (not their oft uninspiring leaders), and if they lose we grumble for a bit and promptly get over it. It's interesting from an anthropological POV to watch your society deviate from a healthy distance, given the culturally shared roots of the US (compared to the UK, ANZ, Canada).

IMO No, but it is clearly a very divided country. The Republican Party is in crisis and extreme elements within that party have the upper hand. However, these types of crises do happen and political parties will recover.
