The neighborhood I live is safe and the cops here are nice people. However not far from where I live there have been incidents of rioting and vandalism but like in most of the country they were limited to a few days at the beginning of summer. People have forgotten by now. What they haven’t forgotten about is the COVID pandemic.

Objectively it hasn’t been. There are things outside his control such as the large obese population here but that’s all the more reason to not downplay it, which he has done. Questioning the use of masks is another thing, whether or not there’s conclusive evidence as to their efficacy it doesn’t hurt to wear them. You’re just gambling at that point.
