A teacher was beheaded in France after showing his students a cartoon of Muhammad
The man was killed by a young man of Chechen origin, who was eventually killed by the police. The teacher had shown the images of the Islamist prophet in a class on freedom of expression. The French president went to the scene of the crime from where he repudiated the fact.
"One of our fellow citizens was killed because he taught his students freedom of expression, to believe or not to believe. Our compatriot was the victim of a characterized Islamist terrorist attack , " said the French president after visiting the scene of the attack.
Visibly shocked, Macron called for the country's unity in the face of "obscurantism and violence" and affirmed that the French could count on his "determination." "They will not pass," he sentenced.
The events occurred around 5 p.m. near a school in the town of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris, according to police sources. The national antiterrorist prosecutor's office opened an investigation for "murder in connection with a terrorist company" and "terrorist criminal association," added AFP.
"We know that he was a professor of history and geography, who also dealt with moral and civic teaching. In that context, he did a course on freedom of expression with cartoons of Muhammad," explained the deputy general secretary of the SNES teachers union. -FSU, Sophie Venetitay.
The Conflans Saint-Honorine police were alerted this afternoon to the presence of a suspicious individual who was loitering at a school, said the Prosecutor's Office. Upon arrival, the agents discovered the beheaded victim 200 meters from the establishment.
The police tried to arrest a man who was carrying a knife, "several tens of centimeters" according to witnesses, but he threatened them and shouted "God is great" in Arabic, according to local media, so the agents told him they shot, wounding him to death.
This attack comes three weeks after another knife attack by a 25-year-old Pakistani near the former Parisian offices of the weekly Charlie Hebdo , which repeatedly published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, in which two people were injured.
The satirical weekly, which in January 2015 was attacked by two radical Islamists who murdered a large part of its editorial staff, re-published these cartoons last September to mark the start of the trial for those attacks, which is currently being held in the French capital.
A French professor was beheaded near Paris on Friday in retaliation for showing a cartoon of Muhammad in a class on freedom of expression. French President Emmanuel Macron attended the scene of the crime and described the event as an " Islamist terrorist attack ."
The victim, who was a history teacher at a Conflans secondary school, was killed by a young man of Chechen origin, who was later killed in a confrontation with the French police.

Knowledge of Muslims and history, is sufficient grounds for wariness, only ignorance keeps people sanguine in the face of the frequent and deadly outrages that come from the various Muslim communities ...
I've been through London transport in the immediate aftermath of 7/7, had Dutch passport control joke about the terrorist beard in my passport photo, as I went through Schiphol high on skunk weed ...
People aren't that stupid, at least not in my experience.
The only discrimination I have ever faced was being rejected for a contract, by a Muslim, after a positive interview, shortly after he learned that I was an apostate.
