Once Spain stopped being a good place for work the Romanian pop went from 1 mil to 700k. I'd expect it to go even lower in the following years.

I'd be a hypocrite to say I don't want those proposed "150k Pakistani/Bangladeshi workers" in Romania but would push you to accept one million Romanians. Neither options are good for the economy of the hosting country.

Even in the last good times (2000-2005 more or less) there were quite countries economically above Spain, yet millions of immigrants came here. Whats up, did they like our climate? our beaches? women? sun? style of life? night parties?
Sorry, it makes no sense for me this fixation with Spain. This happens even today in this current crisis and happened in the last crisis 2005-2008. It is insane.

What I know is that straight after the 1989 revolution, people did not go straight to Spain but also Italy and Germany, probably France as well.

Germany actually put some restrictions in place, redirected the influx to places easier to get into , which were Italy and Spain - lots of ways to get into them, most via local mafia.

Once the UK became more open to E. European migrants, they started getting a lot more Romanians and Bulgarians too. It did sky-rocket after 2007 tho, when you'd barely need anything to get in.

So I guess the short answer is - easiest to get in, at least for Romanians. Ease of language as well I guess, with Romanians saying that they watched Spanish telenovelas and can get the language in a few months.

Unlike Western Europe, they aren't importing hordes of mental defectives from third world shithole countries and they'll remain 95%+ Japanese.

Japanese are pragmatic. They will never do anything without being assured that they get more benefits than disadvantages.

It's true that we have many immigrants in France, but it's still less than in the UK. And contrary to what you believe, a lot of them are expelled every year, mosques are getting closed if their rector or their imam don't play by the rules.
I'll also bring to your attention that several well-off western countries have plenty of immigrants proportionally to the size of their population: Switzerland, Canada, Norway etc...yet, they have few issues with their migrants and refugees from third-world countries. It means the French integration model is at issue.

That's weird, I tought it only applies to old world countries (Eurasia, Africa). And I'd say it's more of social class discrimination + racial in LatAm than anything.
Because Chileans who aren't pred. amerindian are recent immigrants themself.

In Chile, being of full non-Spanish Euro descent (Basque, Croatian, English, French and German) is equivalent to having blue blood, since Chilean of Castilian and Andalusian origin are often mixed with Amerindians and therefore, are swarthier.

I had a Chilean girlfriend. She was very proud of her German origins, without for all that feeling superior to Mapuche natives or Bolivian and Haitian immigrants.

I used to be for controlled immigration, but eventually I didn't find anymore any valid ethical argument what should be the upper limit, since it's so random and arbitrary whatever number is decided. So nowadays I'm all for unrestricted immigration, because I believe any person in this world has a right to travel and live wherever he or she wants. Close-knitted ethnostates are definitely a thing of the past, with population growth on this planet, massive demographic changes are and will continue to happen, and some arbitrary borders won't really stay in the way of movement of people, let's be real.
