How many of these people are Slavic, or have significant Slavic background? It seems like the older pics show the Udmurts as more Asiatic and the newer ones show them as more European, almost Western looking.

Interestingly, despite looking slightly Artic or Asiatic they have a very high proportion of blond/red hair and light eyes.
Look at this one; morphologically she does not seem to show high Caucasian admixture:
But look her eyes and haircolor Which makes me wonder if certain Mongoloid types could have evolved the mutations for light hair and eyes?

Udmurts is a group within the Finnic branch of Finno Ugrian language groups who live in the Eurasian contact zone. As a result from living in this contact zone, Udmurts have more "Asian" Mt DNA in their genetic setup up than all other Finnic speaking Finno Ugrians.
From my perspective most of these people look rather Slavic but many of them have features which are common in Northern Europe.

nearness of the Golfstream that enabled to develop agriculture (Neolithic) on so northern latitudes + the problem with the vitamin D in populations eating mainly the bread and porridges = appearance of blue eyed and blonde haired populations. But look her eyes and haircolor Which makes me wonder if certain Mongoloid types could have evolved the mutations for light hair and eyes?
“Originally, we all had brown eyes”, said Prof Hans Eiberg from the University of Copenhagen, who led the team. You can just google "Eiberg mutation blue eyes common ancestor". I'm sorry beforehand if you know this work but have your some own suggestions. Also you should remember that spreading of new recessive mutations is a very strong task for populations (Chetverikov and Vavilov).Blue eye colour most likely originated from the near east area or northwest part of the Black Sea region, where the great agriculture migration to the northern part of Europe took place in the Neolithic periods about six–10,000 years ago.
also, sorry for some off.
