    As expected. East Med Roman provinces were far more developed than anything else outside of Italy and Egypt was richest of them all. I'm suprised Iberian provinces and southern France were relatively wealthy compared to Maghreb and rest of barbarian world in Europe though.

    It makes sense on why the Byzantine empire, which got split from the Roman empire in the 4th century AD, was much more developed and richer than it's western counterpart.
