I don't know If this happens In Colombia but I've seen Indomestizos being 20-30% Euro only (facial features) and very light skin being called white In Mexico and some really dark harnizos & castizos (pigmentation) being called Prieto lol.


Most mexicans when classifying others they go mainly by skin tones.

Why are you getting Santiago, La Vega and Peravia as the closest Dominican regions? I could have expected Santiago Rodríguez and Azua first since you have mentioned your peeps hail from there (if I'm not wrong).

It also looks like the connection with Cuba and our country is stronger than we really thought. I've seen so many Cubans with stereotypical Dominican surnames. Like this cubano on a Instagram group which last name was Pichardo. But oh God, what a big comemierda he was.

I suspect that my great grandmother is part galician or cuban.
Also it seems like many cubans have a dominican ancestor because theres resources for looking for dominican ancestors for cuban geneology.

Peravia is because my maternal grandfather was from there (from Sabana Buey), while his wife (my grandma) is the Azuana. As for Santiago, it is due to the Taveras family of my paternal grandma. The link to La Vega is the one that bears more investigating on my part.

The Cuban regions I think are real, since most correspond to Oriente, which received heavy Domi immigration both during the colony (from people leaving failed towns on the western part of the island such as Jacomelo, Yaquimo or Yaguana) as well as during the wars with the Haitian.

My great grandfather and his ancestors came from la vega up to around 1800. I dont know where they are from before that except my direct paternal lineage. It migrated likely from zona colonia because my direct paternal ancestors wife death record listed her church as regina angelorum which is there. And the husband was born in santo domingo.

People migrate. I haven't found an ancestor that was from santiago yet. But I have santiago de los cabelleros listed as a top region also.
