Interesting thing about Elvis is he was likely one of contemporary musics first pretty boy's in a sense but yet he was still butch enough to be revered and admired by manly men.

I cant think of any other male performer that was revered as much by female fans and male fans whom often would try clone themselves after his looks.


When he first appeared on the scene his dancing style was considered wild and provocative.

He played a lot of music that had black roots , but yet he was totally able to fit within the mainstream and maintain a kind of all American boy reverance.

Elvis was at his best up to1962, then he started making crappy movies with songs to match, and, by the 70s, he mostly did covers worse than the originals, e.g., Suspicion (not Suspicious Minds!). But, he could be inspired, as witness his version of Lorenz Hart's Blue Moon.

I liked some of his films. He wasn't given good enough material. He had acting potential.

Yeah, the early movies up through 1961 are quite watchable, 1962 not as much, and after, mostly garbage, with the possible exception of Viva Los Vegas as a guilty pleasure, but I'm being generous.
