Default An Irish Girl's View on America

I've been watching a few of her videos.

    Her surprises about the US.

Her view on Irish pubs in New York. You can drink along with Diane in this.

Pretty good synopsis. Do you know where she visited beside New York? America has huge regional differences. Where I live has about as much in common with Mississippi as it does with Ireland or the UK.

She has visited quite a good amount of the US i.e. LA, East Coast, Texas etc. I'm sure she has mainly visited the city areas though so of course US is a huge country with lots of differences.

Here she talks about how she got lost in Compton. I'm gathering Compton is not the best place to get lost in.

Strange that she ended up there. Compton is overrated as a dangerous place because of NWA songs from the 80s. It's basically a poor suburb, I've been there.

I guess for two young Irish girls it wasn't safe because everyone was telling them to leave.

Unbelievable that she ended up in Compton and then Skid Row. I never heard of a person worse at navigating the city of LA unless her story is pure embellishment. Ever for a clueless tourist this is bad planning.

I don't think so. She has mentioned it a few times. I have heard of people ending up in the wrong place in some US towns. I had a friend here who ended up in some seedy part of LA by accident and luckily the police escorted her and her cousin out of there.

I understand a person stumbling into a bad neighborhood, no judgement, but the odds of ending up in Compton followed by Skid Row is one in a million. It takes monumental bumbling considering they aren't even that close to each other. The upside is she got some good YouTube content.

I don't know her personally and don't know LA so I'll take you word for it as a local.

This is where she first mentions it.

She is mostly accurate although I'm not sure what she meant about veggies, they are very common in LA stores, maybe it was the area she was in. The part about the bus is true. You don't see as many whites or Asians on the bus system. They mostly drive or take the subway. I don't have an LA nose, I live on the Central Coast now
