None of the sides were christians during the vast majority of time of the roman-barbaric conflict.

Infact the Vandals that sacked Rome were fully christianized before the Romans were, its a well known fact they left every roman untouched hiding in churches.

So its not a christian-pagan issue.

Its about the objectively better civilisation versus a tribal civilisation.
