I watched it all in friday and saturday.

but taking unto account,
- that german historical cinema doesn't exist at all,

I think you mistake the state of todays society with the post tribal past. Most of our grandfathers were still tough as nails and yet civilized and Christianized. We live in a post christian time that is the issue, not civilization.

None of the sides were christians during the vast majority of time of the roman-barbaric conflict.

Geiseric was hardly Christian (calling your god 'Christ' doesn't make you Christian), and certainly not German (Vandals originated in the area of present-day Poland).

It is not like the Vandals cared about the nature of God, most of them didn't even knew how to read.
