The whole concept is nonsense. Say that we have a Blue generation and a Red generation (not in the political sense), and say that there are 16 years in each generation with the Blues being older than the Reds. The youngest Blues share a *real* generation with the oldest Reds, and both groups have little to nothing in common with the much older/much younger members of their labeled "generations". Generations really are based on sliding scales, say +/- four years, not catchy labels that don't really define people, especially the ones at extreme ends of the "generation".

For the sake of argument (as I don't believe in these categories), what are the bookend events/experiences/trends that divide Xers from Millennials, or Millennials from Gen Z, and the supposed waves within them?
