I thought Eastern Germany and Poland was emptied out of it's Germanic population when Rome fell.

Either this or decimation by Slavs but it seems that Rest Germanen have minimal impact on Polabians/ Sorbs. Until medieval German conquest it was definite genetic border somewhere near the future DDR border.

There are no "Central Germans" in terms of genetics.

There are West Germans (NW & SW) and East Germans.

Sachsen-Anhalt is East German. And actually, Altmark (northern part of Saxony-Anhalt) should be among the most eastern-shifted parts of East Germany.

So you're saying Thuringia and Anhalt are the same as Sudetenland, Silesia and East Prussia?
The former GDR is still referred to by many as Mitteldeutschland, not Ostdeutschland (in right-wing conservative circles in particular and by people with ancestry from modern Poland and Czechia).

Here I depicted a map of Sachsen-Anhalt. Slavs will by time also have settled west of the depicted borders and at indigenous Sachsen-Anhalt Germans south of the Harz mountains I determined a proportion of Slavic-like ancestry of abt. 30%, though there is no known history really explaining that. But however, this ist still nothing compared to other regions of Germany (or German people ermergence area).
