I think you should keep it dark brown , I also think a reddish-brown color would look nice.

I have a feeling your natural hair color (probably a very dark, rich brown?) would look best on you. Jet black will be too harsh, and blonde/light brown too light. I vote for no to highlights.
I find even if one dye's their hair close to the natural color, there is something very often flat or wrong with the dyed color, like it lacks depth or is too reddish in sunlight, I dunno, it just always looks a tad off to me.
So, I would say my final vote would be simply your natural color, grown out, no dye.
