Thread: Help me understand this

    Default Help me understand this

    There's these two young guys I see at the gym. I've been seeing them come there for about 2 years or so. They both look like your typical neckbeards-kind of unkempt, fat(one is actually obese), and wear eccentric shirts all the time. There's another neckbeardish looking guy who isn't fat, as well as I think a skinny guy who sometimes accompany them.

    What I want to know is this, they've been going there for years now and they're just as fat as I first remember them. I haven't noticed any noticeable progress in these two yet they lift and exercise just as hard as I do if not more. I understand that maybe their diet isn't on point, but you'd at least expect SOME change in terms of body composition or weight right? While I applaud these guys for their effort, why do they continue it if they're not getting anything in return?

    if that were the case, they would be half assing their workouts. It doesn't seem like they are.

    Sounds like permabulkers, but.... Curious, since you are a woman, what is your typical workout and what do you consider a "hard workout".
    To answer your question though. Weight training literally does almost nothing for your weight, it's calories in and calories out. It does have some fat burning benefits (increasing resting metabolism as muscles grow etc.), but overall, it does little. Look at Greg Nuckols, he's an elite lifter: https://www.instagram.com/gregnuckols/?hl=en He looks like a couch potato, but I followed his training program and that shit worked. He knows a lot and lifts a shitton.
    Another possibility is that they have shitty genetics and/ or don't train as hard as you'd think. This goes mostly for the skinny dude. That or you might have unrealistic expectations for what a male lifter looks like due to fake natural celebrities and fitness athletes.
