Maybe or maybe not- because Roma picked up a lot of Armenoid/ East Med/Alpine from West Asians themselves- or at least there is an overlapp

Trust me many Syrians can pass as white.
what is the typical Syrian that you have seen. The lightest Syrians are not native Levantines. They are usually the Circassians and the Turks who migrated there in the past. So it could very well be that you have seen people who of those groups.

Please post some pics so I can see what you consider fair for the region.

Speaking from personal experience, the only Syrians, I have interacted with are these friends of mine and they look White to me, especially the one of the right. He just looks European.

Ave. Levantine does not have Blue eyes. I think somewhere between 10-15% have light eyes. So 85-90% people of the region are not like Bashar Al Assad.

Not really. If you have seen enough of the two groups you can easily discern their differences. Anatolians are also on average lighter.

But your friend is not typical; however, lighter types like him do occur.

But he is not to be viewed as a typical Syrian,

He is from a wealthy family of Syrians named Aboud in Trinidad and Tobago and a lot of Syrians there were originally Christians who fled Ottoman persecution. He might not be typical, true but I guess he would pass as an Christian or Alawite Syrian.

Lightest Syrians or Levantines are not native. They are the Circassians who came there during the Ottoman rule. But light types do exist among the local Levantines.

I know many Lebanese and Palestinian descendants who are just as light as him here in Colombia.

Levantines are equally light, Christians even more so as they lack any shred of Gulf Arab admixture.

    Colombian Levantines...

By the way, they are not Syrian.
