Can our Moldovan members explain how Maia Sandu has gained the votes of the pro-Russian parties? what sort of alliance has been made?

She placed herself more to the centre by addressing the russophone public in their language rather than outright far-right. Usatii also sided with her, which also helped. Dodon also, like the dumbfuck that he always was, badmouthed her a lot, which instead of mobilising his electorate, mobilised ours. In my inner circle of close friends and relatives, literally everyone voted and my Facebook feed is full of everyone sporting photos in support of Sandu and resharing articles. So he managed to trigger this electorate. And this is how she managed to win.
In my city she won in every sector, which was unheard of for pro-Europeans until yesterday. She also beat Dodon even without the diaspora (51% to 49%), but crushed him with the diaspora (58% to 42%).

It's a great victory, but I'm afraid Maia Sandu will find the path towards EU blocked by Russia, much like Zelensky has found in Ukraine. The good intentions of a pro-EU president are not enough to produce meaningful steps in that direction.

But enough with anxieties, this moment is for celebrations

Maia Sanda is pro-EU not pro-Union, or at least not in public

Good news for Moldova, congrats. Even a dumb American like me knows it's good for your economy. EU time. Make Moldova the next Napa Valley $$$.
