    Latvian sounds a bit Baltic-Finnic influenced in intonation and vocalism.While Lithuanian lacks it and sounds more "Russian". In any way I haven't noticed any alien sounds in both languages.

    I suppose there can be some influence of Livonian language to modern Latvian, for example Latgalian(which has opinion of base for modern Latvian) sounds closer to Lithuanian

    Obviously, Livs and Ests could have influenced. Suomi, Karelians and Vepsians are bit far away.

    You're right. I mentioned only Livs since there are one of tribes who formed Latvian nation

    To my ears Latvian sounds very reminiscent of Russian in intonation, being very familiar with how everyday Russians speak, from a slight distance I could confuse Latvian speakers with Russian speakers.
