In rural areas, you can sometimes see traditional folk tapestries on the wall but never persian rugs.
I mean idk nowadays, but during my childhood in Romania our house was always full of those carpets, on the walls on the floor, everywhere lol. Every single family member we ever visited had them too, and most of my family lived in cities.

And honestly, it's one of the things I missed and still do miss here in Spain lmfao. I really like the rugs/carpets. Both aesthetically and bc they keep the feet warmer lol.

I definitely agree with you lol. Half of my family members or friends of the family that migrated didn't migrate to Italy or Spain, but to Germany. Which has no connection to Romania at all. And the language is as different as it can get.

The only reason is because they know they've got it much better there economically.

If Russia or Turkey were known for being better economically, around the same standards as Germany, I'm pretty sure many would be migrating there.

Persian rugs on the walls? You mean like this?

Romania is a proud Latin country surrounded by barbarians.

Romania and Italy have in common.
    1. Beautiful people.
    2. Good cuisine.
    3. Good fashion sense.
    4. Speaking with hands.

    5. Corruption
    6. world class mafia
    7. opportunism

However they differ in one thing: Italy is way too overrated country and Romania an underated country.

I've seen both. In other people's houses they had mostly the second type, but my family, had like 90% the 1st type. For sure. Those huge red ones especially. Or brown. I remember them vividly lol bc I found them breathtakingly beautiful.

I still wanna buy some for myself but they're expensive as fuck.

Yes, the Persian ones definitely WERE a thing at least. My grandpa had the "Rapirea din Serai" one in his room. Almost everyone knows about them, but probably if you ask them if they know someone who still has them, they won't know.

The traditional ones are starting to become more popular and my great grandma's house was filled with them.

That's honestly very odd I've never, ever seen anyone in Romania hanging Persian rugs on their walls, not even in villages. They are only used for floors.
But yeah, those rugs are gorgeous, I think they look great in interiors like these

Those were tapestries/textile arts introduced as a fad in the 70's, they were not the same thing as Persian rugs.
Decorating the walls with tapestries is a universal thing, putting actual rugs on the wall is a Russian/Soviet thing.

That's the case now, but not 20 years ago when the mass migration from Romania has started. Russia and Turkey were way better off than Romania 2 decades ago, particularly developed cities like Moscow, Saint Petersburg or Istanbul that are targeted by migrants. That's why half of migrant Moldovans used to go to Russia, and yet Romanians never did.
