I have wondered about this before. I always saw baltics as almost an extension of Eastern Europe, but I guess not.

Extension? They are a part of it either way, no matter how far or close are they to Slavs. Every Slavic country is Eastern European, but not every Eastern European country is Slavic. Simple as that.

yes i stand corrected i meant to say an extension of the slavic world. But eastern Europe can apply as well bc these countries are often included in northern as opposed to eastern europe.

Such terms have different meanings in different parts of the world, apparently. In here, Northern Europe means Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland, so I'm going by that.

I'll explain you stupidity of term Yugoslav: except for being non existant ethnic term of now long dead state, it's totally illogical too.
Yugoslav means south Slav, and Bulgarians are south Slavs too but they have never been Yugoslav. On the other hand Kosovo Albanians were Yugoslav.

It's retarded to use that term, just say south Slavs. I don't see people using Soviet instead of east Slavic.

As an ethnic Latvian, i can say that we feel closer to North Germanic nations and we are actually culturally closer, not only we want to be associated more with them because of difficult history.
For example, we have similar architecture, life style, religion, musical taste as North Germanic nations.
Genetically we are closer to Slavic nations, first to the Belarusians, then Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, therefore we have affinity to them too.
After the political situation in recent months/years we started to feel closer to Belarusians and Ukrainians. We felt they that they are somewhat close people to us historically. This is something like an union from the Baltic Sea to the the Black Sea.
