Azerbaijan is lying again, because the Russian helicopter was flying inside Armenian airspace, and far away from Armenia's stronghold, and the war zone. It isn't the first time that Azerbaijan has attacked Armenia, and in this instance they miscalculated, shot down a Russian helicopter, and killed 2 Russian pilots. It was a deliberate act of aggression, against a Russian ally. Putin allowing that to pass, without punishing Turkey and Azerbaijan, is craven and disgraceful.

As a result of the signed peace treaty, Russia gains actual military-strategic control over both the territory of Armenia and Azerbaijan through its military presence in Karabakh. Plus the existing base in Armenia.
Russia won the Transcaucasia. Completely. Moreover, on a legal tripartite basis. At the same time, Azerbaijan received a victory, but not complete and total, but returned "its own" and not lost its face. Armenia was defeated, but not completely, Karabakh, its Armenian part, did not go under Baku and are under the protection of Russia. Everything is going according to Russian plan.

The Turks or pro-Turkish forces wanted to disrupt negotiations on such a peace treaty in favor of Russia (and the local peoples), now it is already clear - the helicopter was shot down just before the signing.

Could be mistaken, but didn't Azerbaijan stop advancing and agree to a peace treaty with Russia (and Armenia) in large part due to this event?

It's a good question, but I haven't seen anything that confirms it. Putin was already in dialogue with officials from Turkey, before the Russian helicopter was shot down (in Armenia). It was no accident, and the helicopter was far enough away from the conflict zones, so that it couldn't be confused with fighting at the fronts. As for the Treaty Agreement, drawn up under the direction of Russia, it punishes Armenia, and it rewards Azerbaijan and Turkey for starting a war during a pandemic.

If so, then that kind of explains why Russia didn't attack Azerbaijan. It was already in the middle of finalizing a peace treaty and it would have to go back to square one and scrap its peace plan to stop the conflict (which it benefited from). Azerbaijan also officially apologized (unlike Turkey a few years ago in Syria) and that was enough for them.

Also, Russia seems to have chosen to not help Armenia due to Pashinyan trying to steer Armenia towards the West, so helping them (especially at the last second) wouldn't have taught Armenia the lesson it was trying to teach.
