Serbian standard is based on Eastern Herzegovinian dialect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter...vinian_dialect

This is how sounds Eastern Herzegovinian in the purest form - Serbian grandmas from one village near Trebinje (East Herzegovina) https://youtu.be/62bLWlbw-WE?t=1115

I find quite a bit of similarites to my native language. I wonder if Polish is a near relative of Serbian.

I heard some TV presenters from BN TV who speak ekavian. They sound little funny when they speak ekavian and in the same time have Bosnian accent/vibe. An attemp of ekavization of Republika Srpska after Bosnian war failed.

To me all the ex yugo languages sound similiar to each other.
I know Slovenian and Maco are more different.
Serbian sounds Slavic but Russian and Polish have a marked difference in the sound and obviously words are different but can still hear some similarities with Serbian.
