Hello, all.
Hello, everyone. I am posting this introduction purely for the sake of reaching fifteen posts, as I desperately am seeking classification in the personal taxonomy subforum. I may as well make the most of this post by sharing a few facts about myself. Here I go:
1. I was born in a small city in Northeastern Kazakhstan to a mother who immediately put me up for a closed adoption (i.e. little-to-no information concerning the biological parents is provided to potential adopters).
2. As a result, we know very little of my biological parents, although the adoption paperwork states that my mother was in her late-teens, with my father being in his late-twenties.
3. Apparently, and we don't actually know if this is true or not, my mother was an ethnic Russian, with my father being an ethnic German. I may have some Kazakh roots as well, given that my mother, too, was born and raised in my place of birth.
4. I was adopted at nine months of age, and subsequently returned to the United States with my parents. We have lived in a pleasant Philadelphian suburb ever since, and I have led a fortunate and privileged life.
5. As you'll later see (once I am able to post pictures in "personal taxonomy"), I am quite feminine in appearance. I have, in fact, been mistaken for a girl before: I have huge eyes, a refined nose, and full lips, all of which are arranged on a relatively small skull. Most new acquaintances also remark that I have the thickest head of hair of anyone they've ever met. It's unmanageable most of the time, but I am not a fan of short hairstyles.
6. I'm not too into modern (or American, for that matter) cinema; I prefer older European films. My favorite two are "C'era una volta il West" and "La dolce vita". I also am a huge fan of the Italian actress and icon Sofia Loren.
7. As you may be able to infer from the previous point, I am somewhat of an Italophile. This is a recent development in my life; my first significant exposure to Italian culture occurred this time last year (through the work of Monica Bellucci, no less). I am currently in the process of learning the language, and have progressed to what I consider "conversational proficiency". I obviously have a long way to go, but it is my goal to someday move to Italy and renounce my American citizenship.
8. I also have recently begun to desire learning both Russian and German, given that these languages are those of my biological parents. Additionally, I would like to become fluent in French. I am currently proficient in Spanish and Hebrew. These goals may not be possible, but I would, at the very least, like to familiarize myself with the respective cultures of my parents.
9. I have also just begun the process of seeking my biological mother out! I recently stumbled across the contact information of my adoptive parents' adoption lawyer, and am going to reach out with the hope of establishing a connection.
and finally . . .
10. I am looking forward to interacting with the members on this forum! I have recently begun to foster an interest in biological anthropology, and am seeking to understand the history of man (in a very basic, digestible manner, of course). I hope to learn a lot from you all.

Edit: To those who will be wondering what I look like (given the information I've provided above), take a moment to imagine a young Diane Kruger with larger features and a smaller skull, as well as shorter, darker, and thicker hair. People have actually commented on the similarity before. And again, I'm a guy.
