I would like to know why my great-grandfather turned his back on my grandmother and never spoke to her. She spent her life very upset about it.
    Spoiler!

Oh, interesting. Does she have ancestry from Crimea, Donetsk? Maybe is related to Tatar minority? Other hypothesis is that it can be a trace from Mongolian invasions. Does she get any genetic relatives on 23andme from that area?

Based on the chromosome painting and where I share DNA with my grandma, the Indigenous would be from the French Canadian side for sure but unfortunately my French Canadian grandfather hated his family and wouldn't speak anything of his genealogy or history.......so I think to find clues I'll probably have to do in-depth genealogy research and use other tools. If I find out something interesting I'll post on here though! I'll probably find out other fun things too!
Is strange that they seem disturbed by the Indigenous trace. It’s gonna be more difficult to figure it out, if they don’t wanna speak on the subject of genealogy, but I hope you’ll find compelling things in your research through other methods. I’m looking forward for you sharing any fun and fascinating info, if you find them.

Indeed. Any idea from which side it could be?

    True.
I know for sure she was ancestry from Southwest Ukraine/Bukovina, but otherwise I can only speculate where else based on DNA results. I know she has Cossack ancestry which I believe could have a connection with Tatar ancestry but I'm not totally sure. And possibly, it could be! Gedmatch shows elevated East Eurasian admixture for her as well. She gets a region match to Kherson which is next to Crimea, and a match to Tatarstan, no match to Donetsk though. I did find a few DNA relatives from those areas except for Donetsk. She also matches a seemingly fully East Asian kit on Gedmatch DNA relatives at 13.1 cM which is very intriguing, although I guess it could be IBS. But I believe everything you mentioned could be a possibility. My dad mentioned that he thought my grandma could have Tatar ancestry but I take his word of mouth with a grain of salt. I'll post if I make any new findings.

Yep, they are strange about many things. I will still ask them probably at some point because I do enjoy bothering them with curious questions .

I have actually found possible evidence, but not proof. I am hopeful that I will find fun and fascinating info at some point.

The Peninsular Arab is from my grandmas side because her brother has the exact same segment in the same spot as me. I'm a bit baffled why 23andme didn't assign her it though because she should have it, I guess it got smoothed over. She does have North African as well though which I'm curious if It's connected.

Anyways I've really been enjoying this trace ancestry digging talk =) It's fun, mysterious, and slightly controversial maybe lol.
    =(^.^)=

Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.
