Whitening is a ridiculous idea, it would only happen in southern Brazil and regions with light-skinned Amerindians.
In other regions with dark-skinned people, the tendency is for everyone to become brown, but it seems that it never gets homogeneous, just look at southern Europe with some light-skinned and olive-colored people.

Latin America Is more European then lets say Anglo-caribean not only because of Spaniards obviously ... but because of the encouragement of racial mixing , Mexico mesoamerica for example had more native then all andes/central america combined yet Peru's whites are very racist In my opinion Southern Africa apartheid style If their colonial whites mixed more possibly Peru's general average population would be like Mexico or even more European admixed .

Both Mexico and Peru received almost the same quantity of Spanish Immigrants In the XVI century, there's no excuse really other then what I mentioned above.
