You shouldn't. You have quite a nice accent and you'll hear all kind of accents here. Plenty of people with accents who have great careers. Dont be self conscious about it at all.

So what? The traditional world map was made for Europe to be at the centre. Maps in Australia often have it at the centre.

The US is the centre of the world now whether you like it or not.
