I once took an undergraduate college class on the history of Marxism. The professor pointed out that if Marxism is as deficient as its critics say, we wouldn't be talking about it today, it would have been forgotten like so many other economic and cultural theories produced over the centuries. In other words, it has some merit and so it survives.
