Schweiger is more northern than Kretschmann, it seems. I agree with the comment that Kretschmann looks somehow friendlier.

It's interesting that people think this about him; I've seen both in motion on film, and I have to say that Schweiger looks way less intimidating than Kretschmann.

Kretschmann is more robust; his skull is huge, whilst Schweiger appears more gracile.
