Not at all. Just gotta make a user and play. I use chess.com, but if you're brand new I'd recommend joining lichesa and using the learn section to learn basic stuff. If you're not a beginner, just start playing.

i learned the basics as a kid. only just recently started playing after so many years have passed, usually with abo or the pc at level 4 on chess.org. my score is 1500, but idk what that means.

No idea what that means on chess.org, never even heard of it. I'd say that a ELO of 1500 on chess.com indicates that you've at least garnered around 2-3 years of decent experience.
