How much does your ethnicity matter when dating?

Old story, some guys know it already, but

When I was younger there was a japanese brazilian girl who was talking with me for some time, and she asked me to go out with her to a japanese party. Ok, fine...until she asked me "You're half-japanese, right?"

After I said I was "Half MENA" things changed faster lol

It matters but it is is more of a "are you white/black or not". Those two ethnicities don't really have problems.

The differences between the rest are insignificant assuming they are westernized.

I would be more concerned about personality; on the other hand I am agnostic,
so it could be a cultural difference that is potentially a deal breaker; some cultures and individuals put religions in a prominent place (e.g Hispanics), but I am open to other cultural differences. I am very open to learn and enjoy what other cultures have to offer.
