Default which combat sports do you prefer, boxing or MMA?

Among younger people MMA is more popular, among older generations boxing mostly. Well I'm exception to that, I prefer boxing. MMA seems too savage. But I think MMA is less affected by money and politics than boxing.

Which sport would you train? I'd like to train in either (not a very girly pursuit, heheh) but am undecided. Strictly on amateur level ofc.
Love boxing and I want to join boxing gym, but:

-I'm afraid of head shots as I injured my head heavily 10 years ago, and actually in boxing fighters suffer more damage than in MMA despite average person would think it's the opposite.
In boxing pressure is heavy on the head. Yeah, I'll be an amateur but you still spar (with helmet, but it isn't total protection) and can compete in local bouts. I'm afraid of additional nose break and things like that, which more likely in boxing.
-I think I'd do better in MMA because I have high belt in karate and have always been much better leg kicker than hand puncher. I'm also super flexible which is advantage for grappling game.
-my hands are really weak. But than again if I join boxing gym I might improve my upper body strength.

You can also comment on current boxing/mma things. Would you like to see boxer in a cage like we saw Connor in the ring?

I guess I prefer MMA as far as spectacle-sake and figuring it out is concerned, as a martial arts hobbyist. Western boxing is commendable though. Some of the best punching in the world.

MMA got into people's minds recently and it's been booming much much more than Box.
In overall I love to watch UFC lately so I would chose MMA anyday.

It's weird how much less money UFC fighters make compared to elite boxers.

    K-1 or Glory.

However, between both, Boxing. I do follow MMA anyways - Brazil is a huge niche.

Totally forgot about kickboxing. Very interesting alternative.

Ye, as I said it's recent that UFC got into mind, it's there for long, but Connor actually made it legit worldwide one of most watched events. Box fights are also known to be just now money-making matches, It even came to the point it's laughable how they people determine their opponents, it doesn't make any sense.

I always preferred boxing for sentimental reasons; my paternal grandfather taught me to box when I was a kid and taking it up seriously always stayed in the back of my head when I was a teenager, but my main focus was football/soccer at the time.

Looking back I kinda wished I joined a gym back then and got proper training.

My papa boxed as amateur too (one of many sports he did, he was middleweight), and he got me into boxing. My granny followed boxing too
I watch fights togheder with my family but could never watch MMA with them, they consider it disgusting.

Papa teached me some boxing techniques/training methods I already do.

Why limit yourself to your hands? Fights almost always end up on the ground.

One good leg kick will convince most people to leave you alone.
