Doesn't Netherlands use Anglo-Saxon (common law) similar to Brits?
Scottish law system has continental influences via France, as Scotland has strong historical ties to France. In that they differ to the rest of British Isles.

    From Wikipedia:

The Dutch system of law is based on the French Civil Code with influences from Roman Law and traditional Dutch customary law. The new civil law books (which went into force in 1992) were heavily influenced by the German Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch.

Napoleonic Code formed the basis of the law systems across most of continental Europe.

When we joined the United Kingdom it was agreed to keep Law and Education separate. At least they had a bit of good foresight to keep our entire foundation independent.

I went to Law School in The Netherlands and this is accurate. They do use a system that's a mix between the conventional napoleonic Civil Law system and the Austro-German law system.

The Netherlands is using a law system based on Continental European law. The difference between British (Common Law) and Continental European Law is huge.
